OK, this is probably the most reluctant sale I've ever had , but she has to go to pay for my new bus! ;D
1961 VW Beetle
Factory fitted 'Golde' Sunroof
Newly built and fitted 1641 engine (March 06)
New Solex Carburettor (May 06)
New exhaust (May 06)
New clutch (complete) (May 06)
Rear brake rebuild (Jun 06)
Narrowed beam
Adjustable dropped spindles
Porsche 928 front seats
Original rear seat
15", detailed, BRM replica alloy wheels
Original paint inside including unmolested dash (may have been cut for modern stereo, I'll check)
Many expensive accessories
Plenty of reciepts, including £3000 body-off resto in late '90's
MOT till March 07
Tax exempt
The MOT dude said this was one of the strongest bugs he'd seen in a long time. The car is garage stored and is BONE DRY throughout. The floorpans are like new, and almost all panels have been covered with bitumen lining to keep water / rust out.
Running a 1641cc engine with the believed original 1200cc gearbox makes this car faster than you will expect, although it does run out of revs at about 70mph.
I have just had the car re-registered with age related plates, as the old reg. made her a '65.
She has had surprisingly light use this summer, attending half a dozen weddings and being my daily driver when not on hire. I have serviced her regularly regardless of use. The 'used' oil comes out clean, there is no smoke from the exhaust (except for running a tad rich when the choke is on - but isn't that what the choke does?). New plugs, leads and dizzy cap at last service. I even replaced some of the tappets (valve adjusters) cos they were becoming a pain in the ass to adjust.
I also changed every wheel bolt (cost over £50) with specialist stainless ones, because the old bolts were worrying long (the BRMS are quite a thin wheel)
All four tyres are good.
There are a few rust bubbles on the rear wings, the bootlid and the very tip of the bonnet. I'm confident this could be sorted in a weekend if you put your mind to it...I'll do it myself over the winter, but it will be reflected in the price!
There is no headlining inside (again, something I'll get done over the winter if she's still here!)
She is still insured for hire, so if you're over 25, have no more than 6 points on your licence then why not take her for a 24hour test drive!
£4000 ovno.
Either reply here or call me on 07971096518.
No PM's please I never notice they're there!
