Hello guys, it's Vikki with Poppet, the Lilac '69 ragtop beetle. I've come to the club at Mermaid a couple of times, and u guys told me to get onto this forum... so here i am!
I'll be at the club this wed, hopefully (weather permitting!) but i have a couple of questions to fire at u lot.

1) Is there anywhere locally where i can get a set of stainless steel bumpers (poss american spec) that aren't gonna rust, at a not stupid price?
2) i was thinking of getting a metal script sign made up to clip onto the exteror of my bug, but i want it to say 'Poppet', know anyone who can make this for me?
3) i need new headlining! how do i go about getting headlining for a rag top? again, at a not stupid price?
4) i'm also having gear box problems. Poppet ALWAYS slips out of reverse gear, making a horrible noise. Any idea's on why this is? am i gonna have to get a new gear box? the problems slowly getting worse

Retrodubs can get them, non US blade ones are about £120 a piece and the US ones start at £350 a piece. My advice would be to get on the forums and ebay. Give VZi a try, you might find a bargain, but stainless ones aren't cheap. i have no idea about headlinings but I am sure someone else will. Your gearbox may have problems with the linkage, which is quite cheap to fix. If it is the box on the way out, a beetle gearbox shouldn't set you back any more than £50. I got a good bus one from Shaun for £65.

Hey thaks for all the advice! speedwell, the retro dubs bumpers, are they actually stainless steel? or brazilian quality? I've been told triple crome might be alright, does anyone have any info? I've spoken to the VW man at DGS (Bill i think his name is??) and he's gonna change my gearbox oil and do some adjustments, or something like that, to see if it makes a difference, i have my fingers crossed! I'll mention about linkage to him too
