Firstly I'm not 100% sure if I wanna sell it, as I might finish it off, but just dont have the off road parking I need, so if I get a good offer it will sell, if not, I'll keep.
It's a high miler, and due to a water pipe leak the headgasket went on the motorway. Ive spent the money and had the head professionaly skimmed and rebuilt at great expense (have receipts) and have pretty much put it all back together, bar a few finishing things (some wiring, sensors etc).
I'm confident it would run when all back together. I've spent a good few hundred in parts alone for the rebuild.
Before the head gasket blew it was an extremely strong engine with no rattles, leaks or wierd smoke etcetc. I've now got an 8v as a runner and my uni degree is taking up a lot of time, and cant see myself finishing it anytime soon. I did 500 miles a week in the car until the HG went. I've not driven it since before christmas, but the gearbox was fine, the clutch was fine and the heaters toasty. Indicators occasionally played up (just flashed slightly slower) but im pretty sure thats due to the previous owner putting in the MK3 stalks, or a doppy relay. Not a biggie.
The car:
'90 Spec
5 Door
16 valves
Standard height now, recent shocks (GSF BOGE jobbies) on the rear
New rear calipers
Royal Blue metallic
GL Grille
MK3 front seats
MK3 Wiper/Indi arms inc hazard switch
6 months MOT (maybe be a little less, maybe a little more, not 100%)
3-4months tax (again, not 100%)
Seat Cordoba wheels with almost new Toyo T1r's (195/45/15)
Bodywork isnt perfect by any length, but not terrible either. Bonnet has some marks from the Bra but this will go with the car.
Could do with new bumper side mounts.
THE CAR WAS NOT RUN AFTER IT OVERHEATED (temp guage only got 3/4 of the way..) and I suspected the head gasket had gone, so dont worry there
Its had:
Head skim and rebuild (all fresh bolts, filters etcetc)
New Aux Belts
New Cambelt(to go on yet)
Fresh oil etc
A lot of water hoses replaced
Many hours of my love.
To finish it would need:
A few hose clips on water pipes (all present, just need tightening etc)
Dizzy reattaching
There are a few sensors on the side of the block that need reattaching(plugs themselves)
Starter motor was noisy every now and then but never failed to stwart first turn.
After the above, Im almost certain it would run as I've done everything else, and you would have a strong, quick 16v.
Excuse the mangy looking hoses in the engine bay pic. A large amount of hoses were replaced as soon as I got the car, just not the one that split . These pics are a couple of months old, and just after I bought the car.
After the head gasket blew
Basically it needs some love/finishing. Not a massive amount and she should be going strong again.
The car is in Falmouth, Cornwall.
Because of forum rules, im gonna say £395 ovno, but try me. If its gonna sell, I'd like it to move before easter.
