OK, so is this simply just replace the steering box or is it a case of adjustment.... Steering in a straight line...ok now worries. Make a gentle turn to left and steering is a little..loose... turn wheel a bit before anything happens then she turns and it feels nice..... Turn to the right, nothing for a small amount then it feels tight and grabby, small movements makes sharp turns.... On her MOT, nothing was mentioned about the steering ( I thought it would have been picked up because it felt a bit wierd driving her to the test station ) but lower ball joints were a little loose. Dont need replacing for some time but there was little play. So, Do I just buy a new steering box and have done or do I pi** around trying to adjust? Answers on a post card please....

Always try to adjust first, this is so much easier to do if there are two of you! (no i don't mean you are gonna have to clone yourself) if its the same as bugs n buses jack up front, get underneath and have your twin move wheel back and forth and look at all joints that move to check play is not there, if not, get at the adjusting screw, unlock locking nut give screw a wiggle to get it working then have the other you inside turning steering wheel back and forth through 180 degrees either side of centre while you slowly turn screw in until wheel turning you says 'ooh that feels better'. Tighten locking nut and test drive, if wheels don't straighten back up afrter a corner, you did it up too tight so get back under and loosen it a tadge or you will wear something out.
