Ok so I pressed out the old ball joints, pressed in the new... The actual ball joints themselves are very tight.
Put the arms back on, got the ball joints all connected up everything and now the steering has gone really tight. I thought it would go a bit tighter but this seems really tight.....
Also, decided to change the steering coupler for a urethane one...what a pig that was to get the old one off..
Anyway, now the steering column is catching somewhere and grinding....
So now I have tight grindy steering!
Anyone want to pop over to have a laugh and give me a hand for 1/2 hour just to point me in the right direction?
ANY HELP TRULY APPRECIATED.

Is your steering box, correctly adjusted? Just a guess, like.
On the steering coupling, I put a repro one on my Bay and it was the worst thing ever, kept on bowing when you tightend it. I changed it for a german one and all is good.

On the grinding issue: Tracey's bug did the grinding thing after a new beam was put on and it was traced to the steering shaft (the collapsible bit to be precise) was rubbing in the tube it goes through behind dash. sorted by adjusting the steering box angle as it meets the beam. just a thought. sorry for poor description and lack of knowledge of names of thing but i know what i mean.

It was due to the urethane coupling coming with extar washers that were supposed to be installed on bothe sides of the coupling. I could understand it on the parts that were not covered by the steering column clamp or the steering box clamp but not under these as well....basically the extra length ( the thickness of the washer ) was causing the problems...sorted now... Steering just tight now, I guess Im used to girly power steering. Just need to fit a new steering box and jobs a good un.
